The Louisiana College TEACH program is now accepting applications for those interested in seeking teacher certification. Louisiana College’s TEACH Program is designed to assist those individuals seeking certification, complete the courses while teaching in a school. Courses are graduate level and upon completion of the TEACH program, candidates then may continue in graduate coursework to fulfill the requirements needed to obtain a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. The two distinct programs are seamless in delivery and produce highly qualified educators to fill the instructional needs of our public and private schools.
Louisiana College serves the entire state. It is the largest Practitioner Teacher Program in the state and provides certification for teachers in the following areas, elementary education, middle school, secondary education, or mild-moderate (special education)
“The program is a streamlined alternate certification system that allows candidates who meet rigid admission requirements to become certified through a combination of course work and full-time teaching,” says Dr. Joe Aguillard, architect of the TEACH program in 2001 and now president of Louisiana College.

o Middle School Education 4-9 (all subjects)
o Secondary Education 6-12 (all subjects)
o Mild Moderate Special Education (1-12)
o All-level K-12 Music
o All-level K-12 Health and Physical Education

TEACH Registration

Spring registration will be held January 11th, 12th, and 13th. To enroll for the spring semester, you MUST contact the Louisiana College Business Office (to finalize/make payment) either in person in Alexandria Hall, bottom floor, Room 148- if you live in the area, or by phone at 318.487.7452. Once you've been cleared by the Business Office, you will be directed to the Registrar for enrollment. All offices will be open extended hours for registration between the hours of 8:00 A.M. through 6:00 P.M.

Course titles and numbers for Spring 2010:
ED 572- Seminar in Instructional Pedagogy, Specialized Skills and Practices (3 hours)
Section A if you are in Elementary, B if Secondary, All-Level/Middle School
Section C if Special Education.
ED 573A- Practioner Teacher Internship (3 hours)

Registration Checklist

To do BEFORE January:
Decide how you will pay tuition of $1570 for the Spring term. Check into one of these options:
Tuition Exemption/Reimbursement from your parish. Submit this to the Louisiana College Business Office once approved by Parish.
Loans or TEACH Grant (find your award letter from the Fall) Contact Financial Aid only if you need loans. Financial Aid Office number 318.487.7386

Mark your calendar to call or stop by LC for registration on one of these days: January 11th, 12th, 13th, between 8am and 6 pm. This is your only chance to enroll!

Mark your calendar for class! January 23rd at 8:30

To do to complete registration for Spring:
Pay your tuition: Call or stop by the LC Business Office. Phone numbers 318.487.7452 or 318.487.7616 between the hours of 8am to 6 pm. You must have your checkbook or credit card to pay regardless of circumstances. If you have a Financial Aid Award Letter, bring it. Bring your Tuition Exemption/Reimbursement from your parish if your parish allows tuition exemption money.

After paying for your tuition, you then proceed to the Registrar's Office. You will be enrolled in ED572 Seminar in Instructional Pedagogy, Specialized Skills and Practices (3 hours credit)Section A if certification area is Elementary, Section B if certification area is Secondary, All-Level or Middle School, Section C if certification area is Special Education.

Inclement Weather Procedure

As unpredicatable as children can be...so is our Louisiana weather. We apologize to any of you that didn't receive notification of the rescheduling time of classes Saturday, December 5. In order to prevent this from occuring again, please read the following:

In the case of rescheduling or cancelation of classes, the following protocol will be followed: College Administration will notify Dr. Shamblin, Dr. Shamblin will notify Ms. Laura Johnson (mentor coordinator) and she in turn will contact the mentors. Your mentor will call you and email you the changes. Rescheduling or cancelation of classes are typically last minute. Therefore it is critical that students check their email, Blackboard announcements, and their voice mail. Classes are rarely rescheduled or canceled.
